With The Loyalist Papers project now in full swing, We’re pleased to introduce a new way to navigate the growing canon. A selection of previously published Papers has been grouped into two thematic series, designed to help both new and returning readers situate themselves. These are:
- The Signature Series
The crown jewels of the Loyalist canon.
The Signature Series features a selection of Loyalist Papers that most clearly capture the purpose, style, and argument of the project as a whole. Foundational, provocative, and philosophical, these essays represent the clearest expression of Our Loyalist critique of the ever-unfolding American Experiment in constitutional democracy.
- The Dominion Series
A Loyalist view of Canada’s ongoing constitutional journey.
The Dominion Series collects those Loyalist Papers most directly concerned with Canada. From the country’s institutions to the Charter to the evolving relationship between diverse peoples and the Crown, these essays explore the ways in which Canadian identity and constitutional practice continue to develop in the shadow of American influence and the legacy of Empire.
These series are not fixed volumes, but living collections. Each will expand as the project continues. In time, new series may be introduced to gather together Papers on war and peace, executive power, faction, revolution, or other emerging themes. For now, these first two serve to trace the origins and evolution of Our constitutional traditions, for King and country.
Both the Signature Series and the Dominion Series can now be accessed directly through the site’s main navigation menu under The Papers.
Thank you, as ever, for reading. ♛
